When you book a lactation consultant appointment with me, you can expect more than answers to your breastfeeding or bottle-feeding questions. You’ll find a safe, supportive space where time slows down just for you and your baby.
I understand that feeding support can sometimes bring up difficult emotions, particularly if you’ve had a challenging birth, a difficult start to feeding, previous experiences of feeling unheard or judged, or simply found that things haven’t gone the way you hoped. You don’t need to have experienced trauma to benefit from a trauma-informed approach. I will always work with you in a way that respects your experiences, choices and boundaries.
I believe in giving you the time you deserve, we’ll go at your pace, addressing your concerns, celebrating your wins and exploring solutions that work for you and your baby. I’ll explain what I’m doing and why, ask for your consent before any hands-on assessment, and you can pause, decline or change your mind at any point.
This is your feeding journey, and my role is to give you the information, practical support and reassurance you need to make decisions that feel right for you — without judgement or pressure.
During a typical consultation, I will take a full clinical history, including your birth and feeding experiences, and spend time understanding what has brought you to me. We may observe a breast or bottle feed and, where appropriate, look at positioning, attachment, oral function and other factors that may be affecting feeding. Together, we can work through any challenges and formulate a plan for moving forward.
I also have extensive experience supporting babies who are struggling to feed because of a tongue restriction, through my work in an NHS tongue-tie clinic.
Where appropriate, I can assess your baby’s oral function and examine their mouth to help identify whether a tongue restriction may be contributing to feeding difficulties. If further assessment or treatment is indicated, I can talk you through your options and help you navigate the next steps.
I also have experience supporting families to get feeding back on track following a tongue-tie procedure, recognising that the procedure itself is only one part of the feeding journey.
My experience is that feeding journeys are often a work in progress, and a consultation isn't always an instant fix. Sometimes you need time to try things, see how your baby responds and work out what feels right for you.
That’s why I include ongoing support after your appointment. You’ll have access to me via WhatsApp, telephone or email for two weeks following your consultation, and longer-term support can be arranged if needed.
My aim is for you to leave not only with a plan, but feeling heard, informed and more confident about what comes next.
I understand that every family’s financial situation is unique. To make my lactation consulting services accessible to all, I offer a sliding scale fee structure for my home visits.

WhatsApp/text feeding support for 2 weeks, videos of baby latching or bottle feeding can be sent. This can be helpful if you are experiencing any feeding struggles or have questions along your feeding journey, including introducing solids.
We will troubleshoot what is going on and you will leave with clear next steps that we can adjust if needed.
